About Us
Rhythmica
Rhythmica came into existence in July 2002. The concept was modest and simple:
Singers would sing, instrumentalists would play on their instruments, and if something presentable came
out, they would perform before the IISc audience. More than 16 years after its birth, Rhythmica is now
over 30 program old. Despite the elitists’ occasional insinuations of Rhythmica clinging on to a beaten
film-music orchestra format, Rhythmica has been able to deliver an unparalleled width of music. Ranging
from Indian classical (both Hindustani and Carnatic) to Western; from Rock to Jazz to Blues; from
western
country music to Indian folk; from Vedic tunes to home-brewed self-composed scores; from the early 20th
century classics to the chartbusters of the currently running year – Rhythmica has succeeded in covering
it all. What makes Rhythmica click with the IISc crowd? ‘Rhythmica plays for the crowd!!!’.

Geetanjali
GEETANJALI IISc, part of IISc Music Club, is a vibrant group officially
inaugurated on 12th December 2015 by the then Director Prof Anurag Kumar. Yes! This group is mainly a
Hindustani Classical Music Group, but the group also promotes the other diverse Indian Rich Cultural
Heritage. Ever since its inception, this group has given many performances on and off campus too, which
has been widely appreciated by not only the entire IISc community but also outsiders. This group has
hosted a few renowned artists - Padma Shri awardee Pandit Satish Vyasji, Padma Bhushan awardees Pandits
Rajan Sajan Misraji, Pandit Balachandra Nakod, to name a few. The group has also extensively helped IISc
with SPICMACAY in organizing concerts by highly renowned artists. The main ideology of the group is
stood out with its motto that says “Music Transcends All.”
So please do attend the GEETANJALI programs, wherein every program we have something in it for everyone!.

Activities
• Perform at the annual fests at IISc.
• Organize cultural nights throughout the year at IISc.
• Invite renowned artists to perform at IISc.
• Conduct auditions every year followed by the orientation sessions of Sangam.
• Audition dates are 7th and 8th September’18 from 6 PM.
